Animation in progress
Friday, February 06, 2009 | Author: Julia Giordano

Here's part of the rough animation I've done until now. It's the transformation scene: the shaman kneeling in front of the tree, summoning the tree's spirit and the beginning of its transformation into a human being. I'll soon start doing some colour tests with Painter and Photoshop by importing a stack of frames from Flash.

I've tried to simulate a camera movement in a couple of occasions, when the shaman kneels and when the first root turns into the left leg, and I like the result because I feel that the action looks more dynamic.

Hey, that was great, Ju! You're right, the camera movement will make it more dynamic; it does now, but of course it'll be much better with the background. You'll have to show me how you did all this, when you come here!

You could show a bit of the shaman's reaction during the transformation, just a second (or twice, and a second each time) maybe getting up in a rush, or stepping back, maybe slipping back... maybe lowering his head as the tree shrinks... To make it faster and more tense, I mean.

I really liked the back's transformation! With the movement she does... And the shaman when he sits down, and the close-up of the shaman when the transformation begins.

Well, keep up the good work! ;-)

love,

Well, might be a second or even less, for the shaman's reaction...

Yeah, you're right. I already thought about interspersing the transformation with the shaman's reactions, but I had placed these in the final stages of the enchantment... maybe I should put some more in the middle...

I'm not totally happy with the back's transformation, that's the part that's troubling me most. I can't make it look like I imagine it...

Anyway, thanks a lot for your comments, little sis!
